LMS invites you to a piano recital with Nicolas Costantinou, entirely dedicated to the music of the Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin (1810–1849). Chopin was the first composer to devote himself uniquely to the piano. With his remarkably advanced treatment of harmony and rhythm, Chopin has freed music from established conventions and opened the door to an emotional ambiguity that continues to stir the audience’s interest, the transmission of which requires delicate executions that generations of pianists have laboured devotedly to achieve. The luminous textures and haunting melodies enriched the sound and range of colour shadings of the instrument in such a way that no composer before imagined possible.
