PIANOFEST

Initiated in 2008, PIANOFEST takes place every second year during the winter. PIANOFEST is the first festival of its kind in Cyprus. A rare treat due to the fact that the heavy physical strain, the superior technique and the high concentration a piano recital demands from the performer make such an event an unusual phenomenon. It is a unique opportunity for Cypriot audiences to enjoy the richness of the repertoire associated with this particular style through a series of exciting live performances by Cypriot and European musicians. PIANOFEST presents a wide range of masterpieces spanning from the Baroque up to the 20th century.

PIANOFEST1 was inaugurated by the much-respected pianist and teacher, Dmitri Bashkirov, in November 2008 and was dedicated to the memory of the great Cypriot pianist Nicolas Economou (1953-1993).
